About the Day Star formulas.
You can find some explanation in the Help files about each of the 4 available formulas.
I think my own Formula (nr4) is the best, because it is the most simple one and has no sudden jumps in day number near the solstices.
But Day Star formula is a really controversial topic.
As for Day changing near midnight. This depends on the location (longitude) and timezone.
The software uses correction to find the True Local Time. That's why midnight, and thus change of the day is rarely at exactly 12 o'clock.
That's what "manual cast" is for.
There you can enter the result of any divination you have done by any manual method (coin, yarrow, etc..).
Then you can analyze and save it.
Use left and right mouse-clicks to set to what you want.
Left-click changes a line between Yin and Yang.
Right-click changes the line between changing-not changing.
It's very easy.
