In Chinese face reading the nose area is said to represent the ages 40 - 50.
The nose is also related to wealth in general.
So it's kind of interesting to consider the effects of the plastic surgery operations MJ had on his nose, after which he looked terrible.
In his mid 40s he started struggling financially, and as we know he died at age 50.
Age 50 is near the tip of the nose, exactly where he had this awful surgery.

Ibn al-Haytham, an 11th-century Iraqi mathematician and scientist, wrote that the “seeker after truth” had an obligation not to believe any consensus, however well established: instead, it was his duty to check for himself, using his own hard-won knowledge and skill. For the road to truth, said al-Haytham, was long and hard, but “that is the road we must follow.”
For his statement of scientific principle, al-Haytham is remembe…

Well, it seems like many smart people do.
A survey of members of Mensa (the High IQ Society) in Canada in the mid-1980s found that 44 per cent of them believed in astrology, 51 per cent believed in biorhythms and 56 per cent believed in aliens (Skeptical Inquirer, vol 13, p 216)

Hi all,
As you may have noticed already, Ning networks have started offering a kind of "gift" feature, which allows you to send virtual gifts to other network members.
A few of them are free, but most costs 75 "credits".
Ning has given everyone 3750 free credits, probably to get people used to it.
The catch is that when you are through with your 3750 credits, you can buy more credits via Paypal and they will charge you 2$ for 100 credits.
I personally wonder who will be so stupid to pay almos…

What is good luck and what is bad luck?
Even in four pillars astrology we cannot always tell the difference.
Often we can only tell in hindsight.
A friend sent me this snippet today, it illustrates the point very well:
---
According to a pair of researchers from the University of Michigan, a depression does more for longevity than diet or exercise.
Life expectancy during the worst years of the Great Depression increased from 57.1 years in 1929 to 63.3 years in 1933, says the report by Jose A.…

Sometimes people ask : "what is the use of astrology? Why do we need to know our destiny?"
Astrology is not about trying to know what is our destiny.
In fact, the chart can and does not show us our destiny.
The chart, at best, shows us a certain "potential".
And what we chose to *DO* with that potential, that's what finally becomes our destiny.
It is more than 50% in our own hands.

Hi,
Came across this news.
Hope it also brings a smile to your face

From the Bristol Evening Post:
"Outside Bristol Zoo is the car park, with spaces for 150 cars and 8 coaches. It has been manned 6 days a week for 23 years by the same charming and very polite car park attendant with the ticket machine. The charges are £1. per car and £5. per coach.
"On Monday 1 June, he did not turn up for work. Bristol Zoo management phoned Bristol City Council to ask them to send a replacement parking…

Some people are worried that "new age" feng shui is going to take over everything, and there will be no place for more profound methods anymore.
Is it a reasonable worry?
First of all, let's consider that the vast majority of Westerners had their first contacts with feng shui or Chinese astrology through some new age books, courses or articles.
So, for most of us these books or courses have served as a stepping stone.
Bookshops have beginner level books on nearly every topic, from physics to…

Something becomes a generic term when it describes a whole "class" of product, services, or techniques.., rather than a "specific" one.
This is clearly the case with word "feng shui" , as it has always encompassed a whole range of different approaches, schools and techniques.
Typically a generic term cannot be trademarked or controlled by a single person.
It is even possible to lose a trademark once it becomes a generic term.
One of the indications for this is when the word starts become used a…

Hi all,
I came across this interview with a Ph. D. in physics, in which he explains how astrology "might" work.
Even though the article is quite old and a bit technical, it is still a good read.
You can also use wikipedia to dig deeper in some of the concepts mentioned, e.g.
Holomovement.
Here is the article (full text copied below)

Hi all,
Here is a very interesting site about 20 year cycle changes, as observed by two socialogists/historians.

For a more detailed overview of their approach and observations , see:

In the left side navigation you can also find 3 pdf ebooks to download.

Here is an interesting article from New Scientist (full text copied below)
The science of voodoo: When mind attacks body
It is a good read for every astrologer or feng shui counselor, as these effects can also play their role in our field.

Hi all,
Some interesting news from Space Weather (copied below).
The solar activity has now been very low for the last few years, and if we continue like this we may be moving into a (small) ice age within a decade or so.
That's what one leading climate scientist predicted based on calculations several years ago already (he died a few years ago). The abnormally low count of sunspots in the current cycle is what he predicted would be the first signs that we are moving in the direction of a majo…

Hi all,
Some people have expressed unhappiness with a recent discussion on the network.
In an international group it is easy to get so-called "culture shock"
So let me take some time to clarify what this network is and what it is not.
1) This network has no hierarchy. Everyone is equally a member here.
We do have several teachers and authors on the network, but they are also equally a member just as you are.
They do not get more or less respect than anybody else, so it is OK to disagree with w…

Hi all,
Ning is again giving us some new features and look today.
You can now find the chat in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. This now appears automatically at the bottom of all network pages.
You can now also chose to have private chat. Click on the person you want to chat with and you will see "private chat" option.
Also the music player has been improved.
People who don't have a profile picture now appear as a brown man.
If you don't want to look like a chocolate puppet, then yo…

Hi all,
Today our network exists exactly one year.
364 people have signed up, nearly 1 per day.
Let's see if we can keep up that rate and grow to 700 members by the next year.
Thanks to all for being here.

Mr Tetlock is a professor who has studied the accuracy of "experts" for some 25 years.
Below are some excerpts from a recent interview he gave.
Bottom line: we need not be surprised or feel bad when any of our methods or approach does not work all the time.
Most "experts" out there are in the same boat.
