Today the planned launch of an important satellite that was to measure the carbon in our atmosphere, and thus solve some major questions about the global warming problem, has failed.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/oco/main/index.html

The launch took place this morning 24 Feb, 2009 at 1:55am PST in Lompoc, CA

Using the special Date-Time method I developed a few years ago, the Monthly hexagram is currently nr 39 (Obstructions).
The Daily and Hourly hexagram for the moment of launch also happened to be nr 39 - Obsctruction.
So we had 3 times the same hexagram pointing to obstruction and difficulty.
The mission failed.

Such precisely timed events offer great study cases.

Hi all,

Yesterday was another Ox day in the year of the Ox, in which there was an airplane crash. This serves as another evidence for the idea that ox tomb of Metal is not so good for airplanes flights and satellites.

Here is the news:
Plane overshoots Jamaica runway; dozens hurt

Flight 331 took off from Miami International Airport on Tuesday at 8:52 p.m. and arrived at Norman Manley International Airport at 10:22 p.m.

Hi Annie,

Fortunately it was a minor accident.

Obviously thousands of airplanes still land safely every day.
But airplane accidents do not happen every day (otherwise most people would probably stop using them), and it has been quite amazing how many problems with airplanes or satellites have been happening on Ox days.
More than the 1 out of 12 one would logically expect.

Trains are also metal made. When would you expect train and bus crashes to happen?

I don't know.
You can do the research.
Here is a good place to start if you want to study charts for all kind of disasters:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_disasters_by_dea...

There is also a long list more specific with rail accidents:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rail_accidents_%282000%E2%80%9...

Hi Annie,

And next month is the last month in the Ox year, which is an Ox month, so flying objects need to be extra careful... ;-)

Hi all,

I just took a closer look on the wikipedia list of major aviation accidents ranked by death toll:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_disasters_by_dea...

This offers us a more objective way to see if something is "up" with Ox and airflight.

The Sep 11, 2001 attacks are listed first and they happened on an Ox day, but I just wanted to focus on accidents that happened in Ox years.

Of the 30 most deadly airplane accidents in history, no less than 7 have come in Ox years, so that's almost 1 out of 4.
That's far more than the 1 out of 12 one would normally expect.
Actually, if we take out the planes that were shot in the air, or brought down by terrorists, then it becomes even more compelling.

Also, if you look at this list of commercial aircraft accidents by year, then you can see that Ox years are typically worse than other years in same period. See: 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_incidents_involv...

There are not only more accidents in Ox years, but also more deadly.
Of course , prior to the 1980s there were not as many accidents because there were no so many airlines.
But still we find some very famous cases in these earlier Ox years.

1961 marked the first deadly accident with a Boeing 707 airplane, the first succesful commercial jet plane.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabena_Flight_548

1949 saw the deadliest commercial airline accident in the US at that time:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Airlines_Flight_537

And 1937 was the year of the famous Hindenburg disaster, which marked the end of the era of airships:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindenburg_disaster

It doesn't mean you should avoid flying in Ox years, because 99.??% of planes obviously land safely.
But it is interesting nevertheless.
